In the Works Construction & Design was able to work from the original space of this home in a smart way. By carefully deconstructing the existing materials, cabinets were re-used, while sinks, faucets, lighting fixtures and carpet were donated to a resale building supply store. Materials that were not donated were recycled.

Other smart changes include an upgrade to the insulation where walls were opened up and the addition of high efficiency windows to improve the energy efficiency of the home. Compact fluorescent bulbs and dimmers also control energy use. Materials that contribute to healthier indoor air were also used, including low-toxic latex paint and natural linoleum floor.
