The owners expressed their commitment to the environment early on in this whole-house remodel project. Most of the new wood used in the home, including the framing lumber and plywood, has been certified to be grown and harvested in an earth-friendly manner. Most of the waste materials from the project were recycled or donated reducing the waste stream from the project.

While the home was remodeled with detail to preserve its historic past, all products were selected for their durability and long life, reducing the need for replacement material over time. Low toxic paints and floor finishes help maintain a healthier indoor air environment. A new high-efficiency gas water heater and furnace helps to save energy.
